Frequently asked questions
About Net
What is Net?
Net is a social tennis community where players of all skill levels come together to connect at the Net. We aim to make tennis accessible and enjoyable for everyone. We started in May 2024 with 30 mates in a WhatsApp group! The community is still new and we are super excited about working on a plan to serve the growing Net community.
When and where does Net meet?
Our main events happen weekly from May through to September (the summer season) at locations across London, posted in our WhatsApp group each week during this period. Outside of this, we run other adhoc events such as Coffee/Croissant Tennis Morning Socials and Social Parties – stay tuned as we plan and grow!
How do I join a session?
Please join the WhatsApp group for event details. To manage current demand, we accept people into the WhatsApp group in batches on a Sunday, so you don’t miss any comms!
Cost and Payments
How much does it cost to play a tennis event?
Game costs vary depending on court locations, but are typically £5-10 per person. You only pay if you play. If you come just to socialise (not playing tennis), there’s no charge.
I bought a ticket but can no longer make it, what do I do?
We recommend please first using the self-service function on Ticket Tailor to cancel your ticket with ease up to this 48 hour window. You can also notify the Net admin in the WhatsApp group who communicated the tickets at least 48 hours before so we can give your ticket to someone else. If Net is notified 48 hours before the event, we will refund you (minus the booking fee). If it is after this, unfortunately we cannot issue a refund.
Equipment and Participation
What happens if it rains and it’s an outdoor event?
We will make a call on the day notifying whether there is play by midday and if cancelled, you will be refunded your ticket fee. Booking fees will not be refunded as this covers ticket vendor fees (they don’t refund us the fee to use their ticket system if an event is cancelled).
Do I need to bring my own racket and tennis balls to the tennis events?
If you have a racket, please bring it. We have a few spare rackets but availability is limited.
We provide all the tennis balls so don’t worry about using your tennis balls!
Can I invite friends to join?
Yes! Feel free to invite your friends to join our community by inviting to the WhatsApp group (requests are approved in the batches across the week))/or booking a ticket for them.
Community and Conduct
What are the community guidelines?
Our community guidelines emphasise respect, safety, and positive communication. Please review the detailed guidelines on our website.
